To learn how to play piano for a lifetime of enjoyment.
WHY PIANO LESSONS WITH ME?
A CRITICAL THINKING APPROACH
Learning piano is an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding experience! In our lesson, we will focus on technique ensuring a relaxed hand. We will also learn theory and composition and explore repertoire spanning from the 1700's all the way to the present day. Students are encouraged to bring their own ideas to their lessons for pieces and practice strategies.
I am also a teacher that has been certified by the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto, Canada). My students have the option to take leveled exams from preparatory to level 10. To complete these exams is an outstanding achievement in their own right. However, if your piano enthusiast scores at a 90 or above, they are invited to perform at the Celebration of Excellence regional recital. Last year, one of my students got to perform at Carnegie Hall!
I hold an elementary piano specialist certification with the Royal Conservatory of Music. RCM is one of the largest and most respected institutions in the world dedicated to music and arts-based education.
On my road to certification, I was required to complete four steps. I took the elementary piano specialist course through the Royal Conservatory. I was required to pass the Level 8 piano practical exam as well as the theory exam. Finally, I had to submit two students to take and pass a leveled exam with RCM. My first student passed with First Class Honours with Distinction and a score of 90/100. The other student scored an 88 earning First Class Honours.
Piano is my passion. And I truly want others to experience the joy I have when I play.
